Shoe York City was founded in May 2016 by Emily Landsman, who grew up on Long Island, New York. After earning an M.F.A. from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, Emily left the West Coast and moved back to New York, where she grew up. She has worked as a professional Footwear Designer for ten years on brands such as Via Spiga, Vince Camuto, Diane Von Furstenburg and Alice + Olivia.
